Hi,
Given the clubs large match fishin fraternity, i was wondering what the club and members thought of BN's recent calls for a pike cull on the soar and avon in his article in the News of the World?
As a pike angler i, like all other like minded individuals, am outraged at such an irresponsible and unfounded public statement made by such a high profile figure. I for one will not be buying any more Browning or Van Den Eynde products again!
I've experienced first hand the opinions of some members regarding pike in our waters, comments like "you're not going to put that back are you?" being common.
What all anglers need to understand is that removing large pike from a water results in an explosion of small pike which then consume fish stocks. By removing small pike, you force the larger fish to prey harder on stocks. Ultimately, nature will find a balance and its not for us to interfere with without fully understanding the consequences.
The PAC has a library of information which i suggest all anglers read before calling for pike to be removed from any water!
