Caught a 9Ib Zander from the Horseshoe on Saturday morning (on my mates rod !), didn't know there were any in the Soar anybody else had any ? We didn't get anymore, but lost a pike later on.
Picture will be submitted to gallery.
What is club policy on Zander ? I put it back. Hopefully it'll eat all the feckin bleak !!! |

Wow, cracking fish for the Soar i would say!
As for the clubs policy, i would be amazed (and appalled)if it was anything other than, land it, weigh it photograph it and then get it back so we can all have a go for them! _________________ Cheers,

As far as I am aware we have no club policy relating to Zander. This is the first one I have heard of from the Kegworth stretch.
Do we need a policy?
If so what should it be?
Views please.

To be honest the only way it wasn't going back in was if a bailiff or EA guy took the zander off me. I was only asking because some clubs have a removal policy. I can see the point if we had caught say 5-10 small (1-3Ib) fish and there had been a definite impact on stocks of small fish (and pike) in the river.
My opinion is there is a very healthy population in the river and all zander should be returned.
Had a couple of jacks from the horeshoe sunday but no Zander
I'll send the pictures for the gallery if someone lets me know how ! |

I heard this week that Zander appear to be quite established in some of the upstream stretches of the River Soar, and I have caught them myself from the Trent (Trent Lock) near the Soar mouth. We should not be surprised as they seem to have found their way through most of the UK river and canal systems.
Regarding photographs for the gallery, e-mail them to me john@levas.co.uk I will sort it out.

Still unable to get any photographs on the 'Gallery' pages (which I understand anyone should be able to do). However, the pictures of the 9 lb Zander now appear on the 'Our Waters' pages relating to the River Soar at Kegworth. _________________ John |
