Hi,

I'd just like clarification on the whole bivvy thing... I have 'brolly shelter' (http://www.foxint.com/catalogues-products.php?lang=&product=445&catalogue=1&section=3) which is not an umbrella per se, but it definitely isn't a bivvy, is this acceptable to use on club waters?

I will ask the question and relay any answer that may differ from this one in due course.

The rules relating to a 'bivvy' are a direct 'spin off' from our riparian owners statment that they do not want anyone camping on the bank side. For this purpose a bivvy is considered to be a tent, and I would assume that using a sleeping bag comes under the camping banner. As long as what you use is defined as an umbrella you should be OK.

I hope this is OK

Thanks John, i would like to think that as my 'Brolly Shelter' has no front, it couldn't possibly be classed as a tent... i wouldn't fancy an over-nighter in it anyway.

They're just so much more versatile than a regular umbrella, especially if there are 2 sharing it during a session.
