One of the best methods I have found and many others have been using is the method feeder with dead reds on a size 12 or 14 hook. Use a good strong fish meal ground bait mixed with crazy gold about 50/50 mix. I went last week before the heavy rain and had 10 carp all above 4lb and 2 tench above 3lb using this method with the biggest carp being around 7-8lb.
Try peg 21 and cast close to the island, this has been producing well.
