At Beechwood (Oak Lake) for the Tapper's Shield, Aubrey Wainwright Peg 25) used his years of experience by fishing paste on the (elasticated) whip to amass 54 lb 12 oz of small carp for an easy win.  The only time Aubrey remains quiet is when he is catching, and as he continued to catch throughout the day this proved a very popular result.

Second weight in the match went to Soldiers & Sailors Mick Rice (peg 2), who caught 44 lb on corn from the corner and to the point of the island, with Dave Cotterill (peg 30) next peg to Mick as peg 1 was left out, was 4 oz short with 43 lb 12 oz.

Paul Richardson was fourth with 43 lb 4 oz, Steve Wilcocks fifth with 40 lb 14 oz, and Neil Stevenson sixth with 36 lb 8 oz.

The next Sunday match is on Sunday 27 August at Grange Pond for the A Fletcher Memorial Trophy, names to Paul Richardson please if you wish to fish (remember, there are only 30 pegs).

The following week's match for the Centenary Cup, on 3 September, is at Drayton Reservoir.  We have only 20 pegs reserved, so get you name down quickly, again to Paul Richardson.  You may need wellies for this match as water levels are very low!
