RADMORE TAKES K SMITH CUP AT BLAKE HALL (10 Sep 06) | Print |

After the recent unpleasant weather and a cool and misty start to the day, after an excellent breakfast, competitors enjoyed a warm and sunny day, and quite good sport,  when they fished Peninsular Lake at Blake Hall (near Cheadle) in round 10 of this season's Club Championship, and also for the K Smith Cup.

Fishing peg 42 on the dam wall, Don Radmore caught a few carp fishing paste on the method feeder in the first 90 minutes, before switching to his favoured 'long rod and centre pin' method.  Using paste and pellet as bait, Don caught steadily for the remainder of the match, mainly carp weighing around 2 to 3 lbs, and a couple of decent skimmer bream, to finish with 65 lb 12 oz and a comfortable win.

In contrast, in form Nigel Brailsford (suspected of taking some sneaky lessons as he can't stop catching at the moment) fished method feeder at around 40 yards range from peg 45 to take mainly carp, plus a few barbel, for 40 lb 4 oz, putting him well clear of Paul Richardson (peg 52) who fished method feeder for 35 lb and third.

The remaining top places were John Adamson (peg 41) with 29 lb 4 oz on pole with paste pellet, Dave Kent (peg 44) with method feeder caught 28 lb 12 oz, and Stuart Haggar (peg 57) with 26 lb 12 oz (also method feeder).
