LAST BASH MATCH (11 MARCH 2007) | Print |

LEVAS Senior Section matches wound up with the usual "Last Bash Trophy" event, this year at Lambsdown Lake at the Meadowlands complex near Coventry.

After all the recent rain the water levels were well above normal, and the strong gusty wind throughout the day made conditions difficult for some competitiors.  An example was when Bow Overmass had his pole broken when a gust of wind blew it against a tree!  However, it remained dry throughout and although sport was hard for many of the 27 competitors, everyone seemed to catch something.

Three of the top five were in a five peg stretch, with the top two pegged side by side.  Eventually it was Ron Stacey who came out on top from peg 11, his 34 lb 12 oz carp catch, coming on cat meat and pole, putting him comfortable clear of Ivan Carrier, who had an even 29 lb of carp from peg 12 on pole fished corn.

Third placed Jamie Adcock (peg 31) had his 26 lb 10 oz (4 carp, 3 in 3 casts) catch on pole presented caster, which was just enough to edge out Neil Stevenson's 26 lb from peg 15, and Tony Billington's 23 lb 8 oz from peg 4.

The top four points scorers for the 2006-2007 Senior Club Championships are:

  • John Adamson, 157 points from 12 matches
  • Paul Richardson, 139 points from 12
  • Dave Kent, 131 points from 12
  • Ron Stacey, 111 points from 10.

(A maximum of 15 points is gained from a win, with the top 15 anglers from each Championship match receiving points.)
