As the second evening match at Grange Pond was less well attended, all match pegs were placed along the sides, leaving out corner pegs, thus giving everyone a feeder option in case it rained. However, the weather remained dry and sunny throughout, with a brisk breeze.
First to catch was Dave Mayo (peg 3) with a carp of 9 lb 8 oz on the pole, which proved to be his only fish of the evening but enough for fourth place.
Soon after this, Mick Hitchin (peg 11), fishing pole presented cat meat, hooked his first carp of the evening, which he landed some 10 minutes later. He added another fish about 45 minutes from the end, and his brace of carp (one mirror and one common) weighed a total of 24 lb 8 oz for a clear win.
On peg 27, John Adamson fished method feeder to the island for three carp and a bream (all taken in the last 90 minutes) for 16 lb and second place, just edging out last week's winner, Karl Barker (peg 13) whose 15 lb catch consisted of two carp.
Jim Moore was fifth with a single carp of 3 lb 12 oz from peg 22, and no-one else bothered the scalesmen.
