Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society’s 2007 Senior Championship commenced on Sunday 3 June, when 34 members fished for the Tom Hopewell Memorial Trophy on ‘Suez’ at the Cudmore Fishery. Although sport probably did not live up to expectations, only a few pounds split the top three, and nearly everyone weighed in over 10 lbs. 

Top weight fell to C Hodgkinson (peg 32) with 36 lb 12 oz of F1 carp, all taken on pellet, presented on pole ‘down the track’.  He was pushed closely by Dave Cotterill (peg 23) who had a similar bag for 35 lb 4 oz taken on caster fished ‘up in the water, with Mark Chamberlain (peg 35) taking third with 32 lb 8 oz of carp on pellet, presented on pole at 12m close to the far bank.  Fourth was John James with 25 lb 14 oz from peg 29, fifth Paul Richardson with 20 lb from peg 16.  The four section winners were: Ray Ketcher (18 lb 4 oz), K Hammonds (15 lb 4 oz), John Adamson (18 lb 4 oz), and E Hodgkinson (19 lb).
