Match 3 Club Championships - JOHN LEWIS MEMORIAL TROPHY (24 JUNE 07) | Print |

Round three of Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society’s 2007-8 Club Championships, (also for the John Lewis Memorial Trophy) was fished on Grange Pond.

Water levels were nearly 3 feet above normal level, quite clear, and had carp spawning in the reed beds all round the lake.  With these conditions, and continual heavy rain showers, expectations of the competitors were low, but they were proven wrong, as the lake fished excellently all the way round.  Catches included carp to 10 lb, bream to over 2 lb, tench to over 4 lb, roach, perch and gudgeon, and provided respectable weights.

Top weight was taken by defending Club Champion John Adamson from peg 20.  John fished method feeder 20m out to take 7 carp, plus another carp on surface fished bread, for 43 lb 8 oz. On corner peg 7, Paul Richardson took 2 carp on method feeder and two others on pole/paste for runner up spot with 29 lb 12 oz, just enough to edge out Dave Kent (peg 22) who took 8 good bream (to 2 lb each) and 5 small carp for 27 lb 6 oz.  Dave caught on method feeder and pole.

Fourth weight fell to Mark Lowe (peg 4) with 4 carp weighing 24 lb, with Stef Fedyszyn (13 lb 12 oz from peg 13) and Malcolm Munn (13 lb from peg 27) filling the next two places.

After three matches in the LEVAS Championship, Paul Richardson tops the leader board with 56 points, closely followed by John Adamson on 53.  Other front runners are: Malcolm Munn 39, Dave Kent (37), John James (37), Dave Cotterill (33), Ivan Carrier (26), Brian Leafe (21).
