Members arriving for the evening match on the Tamworth Road of the Erewash Canal were disappointed to find the water both cold and clear after the recent heavy rains, and their worst fears were confirmed as the match progressed and the turned out to be one of the worst summer matches on the canal in recent years, most anglers struggling for bites throughout, although all competitors did manage to catch something.

Top weight fell to Paul Richardson (peg 33) who fed caster and alternated between maggot and caster on the hook to take several better perch as well as small roach to 3 lb 3 oz and a clear win.

Second weight fell to John James (peg 28) with 2 lb 1 oz, third was Dave Kent (peg 34) with 1 lb 13 oz, fourth John Adamson (peg 32) with 1 lb 6 oz, and fifth Pete James (peg 27) with 1 lb.
