The Society's Junior Championship for 2008 started off in terrible weather on Saturday 22 March on the Tamworth Road bank of the Erewash Canal in Long Eaton.

In bitter cold and gale force winds, only two of the competitors brought fish to the scales.  Top weight, from peg 34, fell to Jake Hemmings (and top in the under 16 age group) with 2 roach weighing 5 oz, both taken on red maggot fished close to the far bank.  Runner up, from peg 33, was Adam Brailsford (top weight in under 13 age group) who fished pinkie 'down the track', also for two roach, these weighing 2 oz.
