Both have large scales and a greenish backs, but the flanks of the roach are silvery whereas the rud has a golden shine. There are also a few hybrids has these fish tend to get crossed with bream, chub, rudd and bleak. |
Tips | - Try baits such as:
- Casters
- Hempseed
- Bread
- Maggots
- Red worm
- Roach prefer slow moving rivers, canals and still waters, they also can be found in faster moving rivers which are reasonably deep.
- They do not do well in fast shallow swims.
- Roach do most of their feeding on the bottom but oftern come up and take small insects that have fallen in.
