Tench - Tinca Tinca  | The tench is another member of the carp family and can vary in colour from a almost black through green to a pale yellow. The most usual colouring is a deep olive-green back and flanks, with a paler belly. There is also the golden variety which almost looks ornamental, this sometimes has black patches on its back and sides. |

- Tench thrive best in rich still waters, sluggish rivers and canals.
- Tench oftern leave a trail of bubbles behind when feeding, this is because when they are rooting around in the mud they release the gas that is traped in it.
- They feed mainly at dawn and dusk, but sometimes continue through the day or night depending on the water.
- In winter tench tend not to feed at all and lay inactive in the mud for long periods.
